Sacramento's Capitol Mall extends from
the Sacramento River to the State Capitol. This beautiful
10 block long parkway is the formal approach to the
city as well as the Capitol. It is here, near the Federal
and State office buildings, that the more progressive,
future oriented businesses are seeking to locate.
The regional headquarters of Wells-Fargo
Bank, Crocker Citizens Bank, the State Chamber of Commerce
Headquarters, IBM, and many others all have their offices
here. The Sacramento Central Core is just 2 blocks north.
It was only logical; therefore, that the two fifteen
story towers of Plaza Towers should be located in the
center of the Mall at 555 Capitol Mall.
An office complex dedicated to providing
the best in office space should start with the best
location. This area is also within Sacramento's exciting
and ambitious redevelopment project which is revitalizing
the entire metropolitan area.
Transportation here is particularly accessible. The
interchange for the Interstate 80 Freeway, going
from San Francisco to the east coast, is 2 blocks
away. This in turn connects with Interstate 5 and U.S.
99 running north and south. In close proximity also,
is the Sacramento-Yolo Deepwater Port and Channel, and
the Sacramento International Airport with jet service
from international, national and intrastate airlines.
Plaza Towers with its dominant
position on the Mall figures prominently in
Sacramento's skyline.
The architects for Plaza
Towers, McSweeney and Schuppel of San Francisco and
Harry J. Devine, Inc. of Sacramento, have created a
design which is one of the most strikingly
beautiful building complexes in California.
The vertical bronze aluminum extrusions
accent the linear grace of the bronze glass-sheathed
towers are two of the tallest structures on Capitol
Mall. Facing Capitol Mall is a large plaza landscaped
with trees, a half block long reflecting pool with splashing
fountains and constantly moving waters.
This, combined with the soaring beauty of the towers
makes a pleasing and most imposing landmark.
